The clients came to use the idea of creating a dental clinic on the ground floor and a house for 4 members in the first with an extensive cozy bar area in the terrace. A dental clinic exerts a sense of calmness for the patients. Where subtle neutral colours have been used to make the space look more clean and bright. For the kids section no colour has been off limits as anything playful is what will keep kids distracted. The clinic has been made to be as efficient as possible in terms of the right storage for all the equipment, smooth workflow and standard design that adheres to all the health and safety requirements.
Designing this house was more of a drive to the future just set in the 19th century. The brief to us was the space should be spewing glamour and privilege. With the clients office space on the 5th floor and house on the 7th floor there there is an immediate effect of royal when you move around the spaces. The office space has upholstered velvet walls and brass inlays. The office table has brass metal legs and designed to impress. We have kept the layout as simple as possible considering it is an office and there is an easy flow of managers around the space.
7th floor has the house which has 1 bedroom kitchen and a living. The elevator opens into a beautiful courtyard where there is a brilliant play of light between the rafters which we made to bring in the exterior into our interior spaces. The courtyard also has the pooja which is very indo-western to give it a traditional touch. The main entrance has brass in lay with a pop of colour before you enter the house. The bedroom has a 22’ long window which was treated as an ornament of the room. Standing at the window you will get a view of the main temple gopuram hence we decided to retain the size of the window.
A Unique project giving us an opportunity to design a dining area for Doctors and Students in the heart of the hospital. The design incorporates exposed brick construction with jaali for openings and ventilation.
Amidst the bustling Commercial Complex (The Chennai Silks) an exclusive Classy cabin for the MD was the design brief. The Cabin was designed in such a way that it perfectly matches the Personality and Aura that the client specifically wanted. The Midnight Blue and Brass detailing not only elevates the space by looks but also by the feel. The feel is achieved through different textures such as Fabric, types of paints and fluting through the space. The contrasting Emerald green brings out the richness and comfort on all the furniture in the space. As an Emphasis to the entire Space the entrance has a taxidermy of a peacock symbolising their brand. It is a seemles cube with just the necessities highlighted keeping others subtle.
The tea kiosk is a prototype for all the kiosks that are going to come up in and around the city. The theme of the kiosk is very industrial with clean lines so that there is easy maintenance. The entire space is wholesome in terms of the services provided. The kiosk has a standing table for people to drink their beverage when they are on the run, followed by a space of seating for a group of friends to sit. Much to everyone's surprise there is a hidden door opening into the owner's office space. The tea office is for a client who is extremely passionate about his business. The whole space is a reflection of his personality and the business he caters to. Our design rhythm was to use natural , sustainable materials such as cork and wood. We are the most excited when our clients challenge us with restoring their old furniture pieces. Their tea master gives a taste of his tea in this majestic table which was restored for the client. And finally you will enter into the tea factory where the tea is processed and all the import and export of the tea is carried on here.
A redesigned home by neveditha subramaniam in Coimbatore where natural light takes the centre stage.
The client came with the idea to retain the essence of his 100 year old heritage home carried forward from the britishers to his great grandfather and now himself. The red oxide flooring with a combination of real wood furniture brings warmth to the environment. Every corner of the house has been carefully restored to its original space. On account of it being an old structure there was very little to be played around with its core, but nevedita and her team lucked out with the green surrounding the house and a big backyard.
The kitchen has been carefully customised to the clients needs as he takes interest in cooking. The dining area with its high ceiling provides a sense of royalty and luxe. The double height ceilings in the house which is so uncommon in today's newly constructed houses is a sight to behold.
The owners are a young couple who are doctors, with two kids. Their house is an extension of their clinic. The clinic downstairs and the house upstairs with a beautiful terrace + home theatre is meticulously put together to cater to their day to day activities.
Inside the entry into the house there is a huge lawn open to the sky bringing in the natural light which brightens up with the greenery. the designer has alluded to arches into the house. One of the biggest luxuries played with is the height of the ceiling. The living space has a new freshness with the high and arched ceiling. There is a constant aesthetic evolution from the living into the dining. The dining room has a custom made wood with resin art dining table which is backed by an arched niche to hold their souvenirs collected from their travels all over the world. The powder toilet is illuminating with a sense of chicness. An indoor-outdoor feel has been maintained around the house. The kitchen has been a room of much attention as every Indian kitchen is always hustling especially with two tiny tots. It is French themed with blue cabinetry and designer glass .
The pooja room with the symbol of “om “ (the sound of sacred spiritual symbols in Indic religions) resonated with their beliefs and classic wooden doors.
The master bedroom is a combination of classic and modern interiors. With upholstered bed back and gold detailing in the bed the herringbone flooring really comes together bringing class to the bedroom.
The kids room has a whole different ambience which is alluring as it combines the naughty colours, heigh ceilings and playful blinds. This is followed all the way through the walk-in and the bathroom. The built-in shelving in the bathroom is an inconspicuous storage to escape from the kids.
The couple, being young, have a busy social life and have their close friends coming home almost every weekend. The terrace has a vibe with the perfect lighting and bar counter. It is big enough to host a party and as we say “chill” with their friends circle.
